screening. PTI's
WorkForce software is a set of programs designed to meet
the product testing and quality control requirements for
a high volume production line. WorkForce is a full,
32-bit multi-threaded application and operates under
Windows 95/98/NT 4.0.
The system allows for simultaneous testing of up to 252
devices on eight host adapters. The test process is
driven by a simple ASCII configuration file for each
specific part number. Logical branching within the
configuration file allows for intelligent testing based
on device status and test results. The user interface is
designed for operator ease, and features "hot
keys" for major functions. This allows operators to
use bar code scanners to enter product data and program
commands.
The system is implemented as several discrete modules
which communicate with each other primarily via an ASCII
text file. The basic modules are: Operator Console
Module, Master Control Module, the CodeLoad Module, and
the SCSI Test Module.
Operator Console Module
Responsible for all operator interaction, the OCM
consists of a standard interface that displays devices
by host adapter, with color and pattern codes for
various states (i.e., configured, no device, passed
failed, testing, etc.) The OCM can easily be replaced
with a customized user interface designed with software
engineering by PTI for a customer's unique needs, or be
replaced with an interface designed by the customer.
Master Control Module
This module is the heart of the system, since it
controls the processing of tests for all devices in a
given test run. The MCM opens and processes the test
configuration file for each device being tested. The
Windows NT multithreading capabilities are used
extensively to provide for parallel testing of all
configured devices. The MCM monitors each test and
reports pass/fail information to the OPM for updating
the user interface, as well as maintaining a detailed
test log file for use in failure analysis.
The CodeLoad Module
This module includes a custom device driver to access
all large blocks of memory that are required for
microcode downloading, as well as a program which reads
a code file specified in the config file, then downloads
that microcode to the target device.
Custom Test Module
PTI's software engineering can easily implement any of
your unique testing requirements by authoring a set of
tests to your specifications.
SCSI Test Module
The Production Test Software package includes a standard
set of tests and commands which should allow a customer
to immediately begin testing most devices. Any special
test routines and/or device specific commands may be
added to the system by PTI at the customer's request.
